Birth of the Turtle – Day 0

January 21, 2019 – On a Monday afternoon I arrived to my new country of residence: The Netherlands

It wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be, although at the time I was completely unaware of the weight of my decision.
I was preparing myself for this moment in the past couple of months, yet it still couldn’t calm my nerves. The emotions of fear and excitement changed places so often that even in the middle of a breakfast I suddenly found myself in tears. It’s so sudden, that the feeling can spark you up in a blink of an eye, completely uncaring of the time and place of your being.
If you’ve ever been on a roller coaster, you get the idea.

Now, how does one end up making such a decision?

Well, there are a number of reason, especially that it differs from person to person, but the most common motives are:
– Lack of happiness
– Dull, monotonous lifestyle
– Absence of meaningful relationships
– Toxic environment
– Little or no opportunity for self-expression and growth

In my case, it was all of the above

But It’s Time to Make a Change

We have left behind everything, the only direction now is forward.
