A Pleasant Surprise

After waking up for the first time in your new home, what do you expect to experience? You might reckon it would be anxiety or fear, but turns out it’s none of those.
It’s a bright smile, sitting on your face. Due to the fact that your new life is about to begin today!

The sun was just on its way to rise behind my curtain, which by the way was portraying 4 small kittens, embellished with crowns, diamond necklaces and a touch of pink fabric to make them look exceedingly fabulous.
Everything was given to start the day with the finest attitude, the walls in my room were covered in cute flowers, unicorn stickers and Selena Gomez posters, just to make it more adorable.
All this delightful, girlish design could hardly disturb my mind, because I had a place to start from.

Since I barely had any experience in cooking, washing (clothes), shopping; or any kind of typical adult activities, the level of responsibility quickly jumped from 0 to 100, and that is exactly what you need, if your goal is to end up as an adequate adult.
By pushing your boundaries and constantly stepping out from the so called “comfort zone”, the rate of your development will increase so fast, that the point where you will be able to handle any kind of difficulty will arrive in a blink of an eye.
This case is no different.

The landlord showed me around in the neighborhood, explained the rules and the basics of the Dutch community, taught me how to use the electronics in the house and now off you go-
You have absolute authority over everything you do.

The day went by figuring out ways how to sustain myself in the most efficient way possible, plus some clumsy chatter with the cashier at the local supermarket, where I tried to implement my unpolished Dutch speaking skills.

Now that we have arrived to the bottom,
The only way is up.

PS: Here is a picture of the curtain, just to show you how serious I am about all this.

Take care,
Erik
