The First Time I Shot Someone
With a camera, of course.
It was just about time to use this beauty – and capture a few memories that’ll stay with me until the end of days.

Another Dream achieved – (#47) Own a Polaroid Camera
I wish I knew how sensitive it was before I used it.
The rules were simple:
– The lens should never face the sun (or the source of light)
– Protect the film from light at all costs
– Enjoy it
I think I fucked up with the second, because the result ended up like this:

You can even see traces of quality editing at the edges.
It could be a little sharper, but it’s those little flaws that make it so pretty.
There is one fascinating thing about doing new things:
When you do something for the first time, it either goes horribly wrong or you miraculously excel at it.
Just think about driving, cooking, having sex or going on a date.
The more things you try, the less ordinary you’ll be.
After all, we are here to paint the world into a better place.
It’s time to become a rainbow instead of a dull grey cloud that does nothing outside raining.
The second shot was gifted to a stranger.
I was cycling past a bench with a guy on it, and the Sun was precisely putting the spotlight on him. The environment was just perfect to make me stop and say cheese to him.
I jumped off my bike, picked up the camera and jumped right in:
-Bro, kijk hier1
*bzzzzz*
And there it was, an image covered by the film-shield.
It’s unbelievable how convenient these things are.
-Here, put this in your bag and be careful not to let any light touch it. In an hour, you’ll see how it is.
“Seriously? It’s for me? Thank you man!“
Would you see the smile on his face.
One day we might run into each other again; until that – #2 is in a good place.
On the way home I ended going to a park close to the place where I live, to practice an extra round for the One Arm Handstand before I put myself in the sheets.
That’s where I met these amazing jongens2, who were bending the bars fiercely.

The most beautiful aspect of having a Polaroid is:
Life offers many extraordinary moments, all we have to do is just grab it.
I know – sounds like a cheap Nike commercial, but trust me.
If we somehow stumble upon each other at any place, let me know and I’ll take a pic.
Then, if we have time – You could also Tell Your Story.
Take care,
Erik
